NeuroScaffold Foundation, a Non-Profit, 501(c)(3) organization

Our Mission

The NeuroScaffold Foundation’s mission is to assist Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) patients, including all current and future Neuro-Spinal Scaffold (NSS) recipients, obtain the tools they need to achieve maximum results with their recovery. Through strong fundraising and advocacy, the Foundation aims to provide medical and adaptive equipment as well as assist with physical therapy costs, where there is a gap in health insurance coverage.

Neuro-Spinal Scaffold is a device invented by InVivo Therapeutics Holding Corp, a pioneering biomaterials and biotechnology company with a focus on treatment of spinal cord injuries. The Scaffold would be implanted in the spine after an acute injury, potentially preventing lifelong paralysis. Used as treatment of complete (AIS A) Traumatic Acute Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).

This clinical study will “evaluate whether the Scaffold is safe and feasible for the treatment of complete functional spinal cord injury as determined by no degradation in paralysis level or sensory motor neurological function.“ (Clinical Trials) The second objective of the study is to evaluate “preliminary evidence of effectiveness: improvement of AIS A Impairment Scale, sensory scores, motor scores, bladder and bowel function, the Spinal Cord Independence Measure (SCIM) III and MRI measures.” (InVivo) Upon completion of the pilot study, InVivo intends to conduct a larger pivotal study to establish the safety and feasibility and assess the effectiveness of the Neuro-Spinal Scaffold for the treatment of acute complete functional SCI.
